摘要：

自由軟體最迷人之處就在於它的本質－讓使用者可以自由地安裝、使用及分享，開發者也可以研究、修改及貢獻社會；不僅如此，它在產業利用上也漸漸扮演要角。然而，自由軟體所賦予的自由並非全然無拘無束的自由，而是為了保障貢獻者心中的軟體自由及利用方式。很多開發者只著眼在開放源碼的特性，卻未顧及潛在的義務及自由軟體的授權規範。這個議題主要是初步分享強哥在自由軟體授權上小小的研究心得，介紹各類自由軟體授權條款相同及相異的性質，從開發及商業應用的角度來看各類授權的內涵，一併就法院相關的訴訟案件為說明。

美國國防部和電子前鋒基金會（Electronic Frontier Foundation）有什麼相似之處？這兩個單位都資助了 Tor 計劃 ( http://torproject.org ) 的開發。Tor 是個用自由軟體打造的網路，能讓全球各地網民匿名安全上網。2300 位志願者為至少五十萬 Tor 線上使用者轉接流量，這些人包含想避免身份遭盜竊的一般市民、及那些想要私下窺探競爭對手網站的企業、全世界的部落客和行動主義者、在中東地區想要連上家鄉伺服器的士兵和醫護人員不用害怕受到人身攻擊。

Abstract:

What do the United States Department of Defense and the Electronic Frontier Foundation have in common? They have both funded the development of Tor (http://torproject.org ), a free-software anonymizing network that helps people around the world use the Internet in safety. Tor's 2300 volunteer relays carry traffic for perhaps half a million concurrent users including ordinary citizens who want protection from identity theft and prying corporations, corporations who want to look at a competitor's website in private, bloggers and activists around the world, and soldiers and aid workers in the Middle East who need to contact their home servers without fear of physical harm.

I'll give an overview of the Tor architecture, and talk about who uses it and why, and what security it provides. Then we can open it up for discussion about open research questions, wider social implications, censorship and circumvention questions around China, and other topics the audience wants to consider.

Bio:

Roger Dingledine is project leader for The Tor Project, a US non-profit working on anonymity research and development for such diverse organizations as Voice of America, the U.S. Navy, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation. In addition to all the hats he wears for Tor, Roger organizes academic conferences on anonymity, speaks at a wide variety of industry and hacker conferences, and also does tutorials on anonymity for national and foreign law enforcement.

打從寫下第一行程式開始就是一連串錯誤的開始，縱使是一個很有經驗的老手，還是會不斷的為各種小錯所苦。這個問題不斷的困擾著我，促使我開始追尋是否存在更好的開發方式、開發工具、開發流程，甚至是更好的語言。

這次想跟大家分享的就是我在這條路上探尋的一些心得和發現，內容可能會牽涉到有關開發工具的演進、語言特性、一些開發上面較煩人的問題討論 (比如變數命名，文件...etc)、開發工具類型比較、視覺化開發工具 (人機) 與 web 化開發工具等等。

因為是針對開發問題的開放式探尋，所以牽涉到的議題比較廣也比較雜 (發散)，借此機會拋磚引玉，希望同樣對此問題有興趣的人一起來共襄盛舉。

Did you ever wonder why it’s so difficult to develop programs? Writing the first lines of code right from the start is a series of errors. Even very experienced veterans continue to suffer a variety of small mistakes. This problem has plagued me and led me to pursue the development of better development tools, development processes, or even better languages.

I would like to share my road of exploring some of the ideas and my discoveries. I’ll talk about the following topics in this talk: the evolution of development tools, language features, a number of development issues discussed above, some annoyances (such as variable naming, documentation, etc), comparison of different types of development tools, visual development tools (human machine interface) and web development tools.

It will be an exploration. The issues involved are broad and diverse to intrigue the audience for further discussions.

[2/15 TOSSUG 特別活動] Debian 6.0 Squeeze Release Party & Installfest

經過 24 個月不斷地開發，Debian 計畫自豪地獻上最新的穩定版本 6.0 (Squeeze)。Debian 6.0 是一個自由的作業系統，這是第一次同時提供兩種不同的衍生系統。在 Debian GNU/Linux 之外，Debian GNU/kFreeBSD 在這個版本的出現作為一個技術性的預覽。Debian 6.0 包含了 KDE Plasma 桌面環境及應用程式，還有 GNOME, Xfce, LXDE 桌面環境，以及各種伺務器的應用程式。它同時也相容於 FHS v2.3 以及 LSB v3.2。Debian 能夠在各式各樣的平台上運行，從掌上電腦和手持裝置到超級電腦之間的所有平台都能夠執行。Debian GNU/Linux 總共支援了九個不同的 CPU 架構。

什麼是白象交換禮物呢？

1. 每人準備一份禮物，價值在新台幣 300 元左右。
2. 主持人會事先聯絡每個參加者索取禮物實體的照片一張和包裝後的照片一張。參加者必須發揮創意，讓其他參加者無法從包裝後的照片猜出禮物是什麼。
3. 在交換禮物開始前 30 分鐘到 5 分鐘之間進入 irc.freenode.org 的 #tossug 頻道報到，未及時報到者主持人得取消其參加資格。
4. 開始交換禮物時，主持人將所有禮物的包裝照片展示在網頁上，讓所有參加者觀看。主持人事先會對每個禮物編個序號。
5. 遊戲分回合進行，由主持人抽籤或以電腦亂數決定各個回合的起手人。
6. 第一回合的起手人從所有禮物中選一個禮物，主持人即將其「拆封」，也就是將禮物的實體照片公佈在網頁上，第一回合結束。
7. 第二回合起手人可以選一個禮物，或搶走第一回合的禮物。

禮物被搶的人有兩個選擇：
A. 再搶另一個人的禮物，但不可以把剛離手的禮物搶回。
B. 選一個還沒拆封的禮物，則本回合在主持人將其拆封後結束。
8. 同一回合最多可以有 N 次選禮物的機會，第 N 個人一定要選一個未拆封的禮物。一般 N = 3，但可以由參加者在開始遊戲之前共同決定。
9. 最後一回合開始前，在參加者同意下，主持人可以先拆封最後一個禮物。
10. 當每個人都有一個禮物時，遊戲結束。每個人事後再將禮物寄送給獲得禮物的人。

Pasi Nieminen 是 Nomovok 的執行長。Nomovok 是位於芬蘭的 open source 嵌入式系統公司，正在歐洲和亞洲進行幾個 MeeGo 的專案，最大的客戶是 Nokia。Pasi 自 1990 年代就開始開發 open source 軟體，過去十年致力於 open source 軟體的商業推展，過去這年則是完全投入 MeeGo。

他希望和台灣對 MeeGo 開發有興趣的開發者 [4] 聚一聚、建立起對話，他說他「基本上熟悉 MeeGo 的一切」，包括技術面和商業上的展望，如 Nokia、Intel 等公司的計劃。

The following is introduction provided by John.

Pasi Nieminen is CEO of NOMOVOK. The company is specialiced to Open Source in embedded devices, and works on multiple MeeGo projects in Europe and Asia. Pasi has been in Open Source development since '90 and last 10 years just focused for commercial deployments of OSS, last one year fully focused to MeeGo.

He would like to meet with FOSS developers in Taiwan who are interested in Meego development. He said that he knows pretty much everything about Meego. That includes both the technical side and the business aspects such as Nokia, Intel, etc.

The ability to send files using the AJAX way is one of the last
missing piece to complete the map of rich web application controls.
For a long time, we often rely on SWFUpload or iframe to do the job -
until recent HTML5 APIs implementation in modern browsers.
This week, the speaker will talk about his research on implementing
these APIs to build an AJAX file upload control, while carefully walk
through feature detection and graceful degradation.

The talk will be given in Mandarin. English talk can be given with

HTML5 A/V: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly Parts
This is the first meeting of this HTML5 reading group, so
as the first discussion leader, I'll give a brief overview of
HTML5, such as, what HTML5 is and why HTML5 is
gonna change your lives.
Then I'll talk about HTML5 <video>. The discussion will

Koan-Sin Tan is a veteran open source / unix user. He learnt to use
simple Basic programs on Multitech MPF-II (宏碁小教授二號) in
early 1980s, then learnt to use and write code for Unix on a VAX-11/780
running 4.3BSD in late 1980s. He was involved in organizing the
first two Open Source Workshop (which became ICOS Taiwan) in
1999 and 2000.

Hi,

I'm happy to announce that jserv is coming to talk about LLVM next week. He is so famous that I don't need to introduce him anymore. The following is his introduction to his talk, translated by me. Any mistakes are my own.

No matter what the hardware architecture is, it is safe to say that the development of software on top of it is framework oriented nowadays. From iPhone, Netbook to large scale transactional server systems, people all are trying to squeeze the last drop out of the hardware more securely, more efficiently and in more ways. When the compiler technology steps up to a new level, stronger and more diversified toolkits/frameworks are called for. I have given a talk "compiler is all I have" one the paradigm shift of information technology and the possibility of a break through in OSDC.tw last year. I'd like to discuss the brand new revolution of compiler technology via pragmatic development this year. Rephrasing the words of the Queen: "You must believe: the value of software is decided by compilers. We can surely keeping coding until we're old."

    Juha Lindfors 目前熱血在衝居家自動化的開放源碼軟體，在加入 openremote.org 之前，他是 JBoss [2] 的核心開發者，身兼 JBoss 顧問、講者和 JBoss 訓練單位的協理，還行有餘力出了一本 Java Management Extensions 的書 [3]。

    演講摘要：

    打造「智慧住家」（Smart Home）所需的居家自動化技術，目前多半用的是專屬的技術和協定，缺乏互通和替換性。因為廠商想要把顧客鎖在他們自家的產品裡，顧客很難自行客製化或擴充產品的功能，這常常造成裝機成本的上升。

    OpenRemote 是個用 GPL 授權釋出的開放源碼專案，想要打造一個居家自動化的自由開放平台。它是基於 Linux 和 Java runtime 的一個中介軟體，可以在一般 PC 上執行。OpenRemote 社群把好幾種居家自動化的協定和設備整合起來，希望能解放智慧住家的真正潛力，而且讓一般人都負擔得起。

    Juha 將會從基本的居家自動化開始講，並把 OpenRemote 專案的現況介紹給大家。

    OpenRemote is an Open Source effort to create an open and free platform for home automation. The smart homes of today are mostly based on proprietary technology and protocols that lack interoperability. This is driving up the cost of installation as vendors attempt to lock their customers into solutions that are difficult to extend and customize.

    OpenRemote is a software stack based on Linux and Java runtime installable on commodity PC hardware and under the GPL license. Our community integrates various home automation protocols and devices under a single, open platform. The goal is to unlock the true potential of smart homes at affordable prices. This talk gives an introduction to home automation and the current state of the OpenRemote project.

他是 FreedomHEC Taipei 2009 [2] 活動的籌辦人之一，本身也是硬底子的軟體工程師，平時多與國外的開發者直接交流，專長為 Device Drivers, Linux Kernel, ISO 13818, DVB, Set-Top Box, TV，如果有參加過 FreedomHEC Taipei 2009 的話就會知道那兩天之中來了許多國外重量級的 Linux Kernel 開發者，其中一天 Linux 的重量級開發者 Greg KH [3] 介紹了如何寫一個 USB 溫度計的驅動程式，有些與會者甚花了 TWD 1500 買了那隻 USB 溫度計，而 Scott 將在這次的心得分享當中，介紹如何用軟體去模擬那隻硬體的 USB 溫度計。

演講內容：
修改 QEMU 原始碼使其可以模擬 USB device 端，而非 USB host 端的 controller 硬體。例如當我們將手機透過 USB 接到電腦時，電腦是 USB host，手機是 USB device。做完此工作的用處是可以用模擬器，而不必用實際硬體進行 USB device protocol 開發。手機常支援但 Linux kernel 內 USB gadget driver 目前沒有實作的 device class 包括：
* 數位相機用的 media transfer protocol
* Android 自訂的存取 shell 與拷貝檔案用的 adb protocol

Scott is a Linux hacker who has been working in consumer electronics for many years. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to hardware and related software. His expertise is in device drivers, Linux kernel, ISO 13818, DVB, Set-Top box, and TV. He participates in related mailing lists and knows many developers outside Taiwan. He is one of the organizers of the FreedomHEC Taipei 2009 [2] where many Linux kernel developers from abroad attended.

Linux developer Greg KH [3] introduced how to write the device driver for a USB thermometer in FreedomHEC Taipei 2009, and some participants bought the thermometer with TWD 1500. Scott will introduce his work on emulating that USB thermometer with software in QEMU.

Abstract of the talk:

I'll introduce modification of QEMU source codes to emulate USB device instead of controller hardware on the USB host side. In case you are not familiar with USB, the USB host on a computer to cell phone USB connection is the computer, and the USB device is the cell phone. With the emulator equipped with the USB device emulation, you can develop and test your USB device protocol without using hardware. The device classes that cell phones often support but the USB gadget driver of Linux kernel doesn't implement includes:
* the media transfer protocol of digital cameras
* the adb protocol defined by Android for shell access and file copy

機。

當我們開始接觸自由軟體，相信最直覺的就是希望軟體打開來時能看到正體中文介面，而
一直以來我們都是期待或以為總有一些社群朋友在幫大家做中文化，確實，真的就是有一
群默默奉獻的社群朋友，才有今天正體中文的成就。

如果您和我們一樣支持自由軟體，我們除了感謝這些社群朋友的貢獻，是不是也應該以具
體行動支持他們，並且讓自己也成為社群的一份子，也許您真的曾經有這樣的想法，但卻
不知從何參與起，相信Tryneeds會是一個很好的開始。

我們建立Tryneeds中文化共筆平台的目的，就是希望所有人都可以很輕易的成為中文化社

適用於高中生大學生及研究生. 跟上游連絡取得同意後放到 Tryneeds 上由團隊成員進行
翻譯, 完成後提交給原作者. 2009 年 3 月份所釋出的新版中, 原作者已經將我們的中文
化檔案放到套件裏, 就這樣, 大家分工合作, 讓更多人可以使用正體中文化的化學軟體.
而 PhET 是非常受到學校老師歡迎的自由授權的教材, 目前我們正在逐漸的進行中文化,
希望可以提供學生, 家長, 老師, 及教授們方便學習與教學的環境.

How can there be no Chinese when someone tries out a free software?
This is the simplest motivation for creating the Tryneeds-Chinese
localization platform.

We hope that, by establishing the Tryneeds localization wiki platform,
everyone can contribute to localization. We have completed the initial
stage of building the platform, and it is open for testers. Everyone is
welcome to participate and send comments to us at tryneeds@gmail.com.

Besides localization, free software and free content for education are also
our goals. We identify proper software and content, localize them, and
write user's manuals. Gchemutils (Gchempaint), a chemistry software
for periodic table, 3-dimensional molecule geometry and 2-dimensional
drawings. It works in Gnome and can be used in high school and universities.
We have localized it on the tryneeds platform.

變，透過 open source，GCC 與 LLVM (Low Level Virtual Machine) 計畫獲得空前的成
功，累積驚人的編譯器技術。儘管 parser 是 compiler 的關鍵技術，但今日，我們會著
重於打通任督二脈的技術展現，過去耳熟能詳卻貌似獨立的項目，比方說 virtual
machine, binary translator, JIT compiler, HotSpot JVMd Optimization), ...
等等，如今好似整合了金庸書中的武功精髓、淬湅出武術菁華，形成一套獨到的武功系統
，透過 LLVM 一類的整合性技術而一瀉千里。本意成由 0xlab 成員 jserv 分享在這個嶄
新的資訊應用中，LLVM 扮演的角色，並探討 LLVM 相關的技術成果。

is a solid foundation of computer science now. GCC and LLVM (Low Level
Virtual Machine) has accumulated stunning technologies and achieved
unprecedented success through open source. Although parser is a key
component of compiler technology, we're putting more emphasis on the
demonstration of end-to-end development. Technologies that have been
well known but seemingly independent with each other, like virtual

and so on, are now integrated by technologies like LLVM and go a long
way. Jserv, a member of 0xlab, will share with audiences his knowledge
about the role of LLVM in this brand new application, and discuss the

自從 Google 於 2007 年 12 月公佈 Android 這個手機平台計劃以來，新聞就沒有間斷
過。而 2008 年 10 月份 Google 依之前的承諾公開了 Android 的原始碼，更引起了不
少業者和市場分析師的注目。

Android Market 上有個非常有用的應用程式： aTrackDog，可以幫 Android 使用者追
蹤裝在手機裡的應用程式的版本，當新版出現在 Android Market 上的時候會自動通知
使用者，很方便。

下個禮拜二（4 月 7 日）我們請到 aTrackDog 的開發者之一，Gasolin，來和大家分享
他在設計 Android 應用程式上的體會，尤其是設計 Android 應用和設計一般應用的不
同之處，Gasolin 也會做出比較，不論您以前是否設計過手機上的應用程式，一定都會
收穫良多！

Enlightenment，一個歷史悠久的 Window Manager，在 1996 年首次釋出。
開發者在 2000 年開始嘗試全新的 E17，至今經過八年多的時間，E17 步趨成熟。
在這段時間內，主要開發者投注極大心力在 EFL 身上 (Enlightenment Foundation
Library)。EFL 乃 E17 的基石，提供了完整的函式庫，致力解決所有與圖形介面有關的
工作。Edje 便是其中一項，將使用者介面與程式邏輯分開，常常聽見的 Design
Pattern： MVC 架構在 Edje 中可以很輕易地被實現，甚至可以做到抽換介面，只需更
換一個檔案，程式的介面即刻截然不同。這也是主要開發者之一，Raster 的極大心願：

「Designer 專心於外觀，Programmer 專心於邏輯」。

這一次的分享，著重在 Edje 之上，介紹 Edje 的思考邏輯以及使用方式。
輔以簡單的實作，希望能幫助大家一探 EFL 的美妙。

Introduction:

Enlightenment, a Window Manager with a lot of history, was released
for the first time in 1996. The developers started working on E17 in 2000.
After 8 years, E17 is getting mature. During this period of time, the main
developers have contributed a lot of effort into EFL (Enlightenment
Foundation Libraries). EFL, the cornerstone of E17, provides a complete
set of libraries for tasks related to graphical user interfaces. Edje is a
part of EFL. It enables separation of user interface from program logic.
The well known design pattern of MVC architecture can be easily realized
with Edje. Replacing the user interface only requires replacing one single
file. This is the biggest wish of Raster, a main developer:

"Designer focuses on the look, programmer focuses on the logic."

We will concentrate on Edje in this talk: the philosophy of Edje and
how to use Edje. Hopefully the addition of some simple example
implementations can get you started with the beautiful EFL.

在 #python.tw irc 頻道上有人說過：「有了機油引擎才會跑得順」。

很高興這個禮拜二我們請到 GAEO 的作者 ericsk 來向大家介紹他專為 Google App Engine 設計的機油，啊不是，是
Model-View-Controller 的開發介面。

App Engine 是今年 Google 釋出的 open source project，用它寫的 web 程式可以上傳到 Google
的 App Engine 平台執行，不用自己架伺服器就可以提供大規模的 web 服務。App Engine SDK 目前支援的語言是
Python，但沒有 MVC 的架構，ericsk 的 GAEO 就是為了補強這部分而設計的。對網站開發、App Engine 或是 MVC
架構有興趣的朋友記得提早到場，座位有限喔！

我們這一陣子都在《流浪觀點》聚會。流浪觀點離捷運士林站近、

有現成的投影機、無線網路速度優、場地大小適中、低消只要 100

很高興這個禮拜二我們請到 LXDE 團隊的 Mario 和 Fred 來向大家介紹前一陣子去舊金山 LinuxWorld 參展的 LXDE

Project。LXDE = Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment，是個輕量級的 X11

桌面環境，速度快，需要的記憶體和 CPU 資源少，適合在 netbook、行動上網裝置（MID）或較舊的電腦上使用，

可以裝在

Ubuntu、Debian 等發行套件裡，支援多個語系，原始碼部分以 GPL 部分以 LGPL 授權，細節可以在

LXDE, or "Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment", is an extremely fast,

performing and energy saving Linux desktop environment maintained by

an international community of developers. It comes with a beautiful

less RAM. It is especially designed for computers with low hardware

specifications like netbooks, mobile internet devices (MIDs) or older

source code of LXDE is licensed partly under the terms of the General

2008 年的第四場心得分享，將由 Eddy Chang 帶領大家進入用 Joomla! 快速開發網站的世界。

Joomla! 是用 PHP 寫成的內容管理系統（CMS），以 GPL 條款釋出。在一九九〇年代後半段，PHP 以內嵌在 HTML
的方式崛起，很容易在原本靜態的 HTML
網頁上加入變數代換、迴圈、網站主題（theme）等許多動態功能，是受到最多人青睞的開放原始碼網頁開發語言，在台灣也有很多網站開發者採用
PHP。

大約在 2001 年 internet
泡沫破滅的同時或之後，或許是開發成本的考量，越來越多人開始注意網站程式的重複利用性，在桌面系統開發領域行之有年的 MVC -
Model/View/Control 的開發模式逐漸受到重視，越來越多的網站開發系統開始採用 MVC，但在採用的語言（computer
language）、整體架構（framework）、資料模型（data model）等處各有擅場、優劣互見。

在 2006 年底 Packt publishing 為了選出最佳的 CMS，接受公眾提名了五個開放原始碼的 CMS：
Drupal、e107、Joomla!、Plone 和 XOOPS，在十一月的公眾和評審投票之後，Joomla! 以一票之差險勝
Drupal，榮獲第一。不過 2007 年 Drupal 反敗為勝擠下 Joomla! 成為最佳整體 CMS，但 Joomla! 在最佳
PHP CMS 項目中又打敗 Drupal 獲得第一，可見這兩套軟體真是難分軒輊啊！

Eddy 自 Joomla! 的前身 Mambo 時期就開始參與中文化的工作，現在是 Joomla! 中文翻譯的主持人。Eddy 用
Joomla! 打造過不少網站，如
Kirin啤酒、hihosting中華電信主機事業站、多芬自信基金會、保聖那顧問人力招募站等等，有很多實作的經驗，相信可以為大家帶來第一手的
Joomla! 體驗。

The fourth talk of the year 2008 will be given by Eddy Chang to bring
you into the world of rapid web development with Joomla! 1.5
Framework.

Joomla! is a content management system (CMS) written in PHP, released
in GPL. PHP grabbed the attention of many web developers in late 1990s
with its "embedding code in HTML" paradigm. With PHP, it became easy
to add dynamic features like variable substitution, loops, themes into
originally static HTML pages. It is the most popular open source
language for web development. There are many PHP developers in Taiwan,
too.

Around or after the internet bubble burst in 2001, more and more
people value the re-usability of web programs - maybe for cost
considerations. More and more web development system adopted the MVC
design (Model/View/Control) used in desktop system for years. For
better or worse, different systems may take different approaches to
select computer language, framework and data model.

Packt publishing initiated an award for best open source CMS in 2006.
Five projects were nominated: Drupal, e107, Joomla!, Plone and XOOPS.
After voting by public and selected judges, Joomla! beat Drupal to the
top by 1 vote. In 2007 Drupal won the best overall CMS award, but
Joomla! beat Drupal again for the best CMS written in PHP. Drupal and
Joomla! are really neck and neck in this race.

Eddy has been involved in the translation work of Mambo, the previous
incarnation of Joomla!. He is the current maintainer of the
Traditional Chinese translation of Joomla!. Eddy has developed many
web sites using Joomla!: Kirin beer, hihosting, www.realbeauty.com.tw,

來了解一門學習中隨時充滿「成就感」，學了之後馬上用的到的程式語言吧。

周蟒是 Python 程式語言的方言，可以執行以中文寫成的程式碼。同時，也能轉換為 Python 程式碼。

周蟒與 Python 提供了一種很有潛力的學習方式：在對英文掌握不佳的情形下，能先透過周蟒來順利學習程式語言中的流程、迴圈、物件、繼承等關係，隨後能無痛橋接到在各領域被廣為應用的
Python 語言上。相當適合剛接觸程式設計的人學習使用。

透過 Python 語言其語法近似於虛擬碼(Pseudo Code)的特性，繼承自 Python 的周蟒程式碼用來描述或講解程式，事半功倍。

這場演講中， gasolin 將教大家周蟒與 Python 程式語言的語法，並使用周蟒與 Python
語言對照，來快速掌握程式語言中的流程、迴圈、物件、繼承等關係。展示使用周蟒編寫互動小說遊戲(ACG)腳本(使用
renpy)、使用中文程式描述術數觀念等範例。同時也將談到周蟒設計時的取捨，與一些 Python 語言相關的議題。

open source project that he initiated - zhpy. It is a module and
environment that allows a python script to be written entirely in

* 準備：
1. 參加的人先買值台幣 200 - 300 元的禮物，照兩張照片：包裝前和包裝後各一張。（註：因為是 online
的，禮物可以是線上購物的產品，請自行準備「包裝後」的圖檔）
2. 把兩張照片在 2007/12/25 7:30pm 之前以夾檔形式寄到
tossug.xmas2007@gmail.com。在開始玩之前主持人會把照片編號，並把包裝後的照片公佈在

0. 上 #tossug irc channel
1. 大家抽籤決定順序（不在現場的由在場人代抽）
2. 第一回合：抽到 1 號的人選個禮物，由主持人公開被選到的禮物拆開後的照片。
3. 第二回合：抽到 2 號的人可以選還沒拆的禮物，或搶 1 號的禮物。被搶的人再選一個未拆禮物拆開。
4. 第三回合：抽到 3 號的人可以選還沒拆的禮物，或搶 1 號或 2
號的禮物。被搶的人可以選未拆禮物，則此回合結束；也可以搶別人的禮物，但不可以回搶。當玩到第四個人次時，就必須選未拆禮物，本回合結束。
5. 第四回合：同第三回合，依此類推，直到每個人都有禮物為止。

誰可以參加？
* 知道如何上 #tossug irc、並且在期限（2007/12/25 7:30pm）之前把禮物照片寄出的人。
* 為了控制時間，最多 15 人，依收到禮物照片的先後順序決定。一起發想這個遊戲的九位不在此限。

小技巧：
* 切記切記！不要把禮物包得很容易猜出是什麼。咦？線上版？聽說有人要放貞子的照片當包裝照？ ;-)
* 順序籤抽到後段班的人，選擇比較多。但不代表你一定搶得到你最想要的禮物。
* 輪到你的時候，萬一抽到爹娘不疼的禮物，你可能從此變成觀眾。你可以鼓動別人搶走你的禮物，如何做？看各自的本事囉！
* 你可能幸運地搶到或抽到你很想要的禮物，如何避免被搶走？萬一被搶走，如何搶回來？好好想一想吧！

FreeBSD 一向有網路服務效率高的美譽，Yahoo! 為數眾多的伺服器據說絕大部分
都是跑 FreeBSD 的。在台灣，一直有一群默默在為 FreeBSD 貢獻的朋友，

計畫使用的新技術以及展示新字體。

中日韓不同地區的使用者雖然都使用相同漢字，但總是因地域區別，有些字的寫法
跟筆劃不全然相同，所以很難做出一套完全適合各地區口味 Unicode 的字型。有
個叫 TrueType Collections (TTC) 的技術，雖然本來是由 Microsoft 提出的，
但現在這個技術也在開放原始碼的世界內可以使用了。

這個分享會將重心放在如何在 CJK-Unifonts 計畫內使用 TTC 技術，也會展示即
將完成準備釋出的新字體會怎麼同時滿足中日韓三地的口味。

Since CJK users in different regions use sometimes different glyph
shapes for the same character, it is very difficult to implement true
Pan-CJK Unicode fonts. One method is called TrueType Collections (TTC),
originally introduced by Microsoft, now this technology is also
available for the OpenSource world.
The talk will focus about the TTC technology and how this will be
implemented into the CJK-Unifonts project. It will also give a preview
of the upcoming release, which will use this technology to fulfill the
goal of being a set of Pan-CJK Unicode fonts.

如果你曾經從開始原始碼專案下載過軟體，可能常常看到，除了穩定版本有
tar.gz 的 tarball 之外，最新的版本一定是在 CVS 或 SVN 裡。CVS、SVN 是什
麼？它們是開始原始碼專案最常用的兩個原始碼管理系統（source code management system），用來管理多人共同開發的程式，可以把原始碼儲存在 repository（原始碼倉庫）裡，讓開發者複製一份到自己的硬碟中、做修改、看看別人改了什麼、合併修改過的部分、再存回倉庫讓其他人下載使用。

Mercurial 是什麼呢？為什麼 Mozilla 這個巨人級的專案要改採 Mercurial 來管理原始碼？ Yungyuc 在本期土虱報報的文章(http://wiki.tossug.org/CatfishNews/8#TossugTalk)介紹了 Mercurial 這個新興的分散式原始碼控制系統。分散式是指每個人都有一份完整的原始碼倉庫，沒有網路也可以做更動，等到有網路時再和其他人的原始碼倉庫合併。這對許多行動派的開發者而言，是一大福音！

Yungyuc 將在下週二分享他使用 Mercurial 的心得。分享的大綱如下：

Mozilla has totally converted its source to using mercurial. If you
want to know what new features mercurial brings to the table, don't

of using Python to automate report generation with OpenOffice.org. Python
is a scripting language well known for its readability. OpenOffice.org is a
famous open source office suite including applications like write
(documents),
calc (spreadsheets) and impress (slides). Who said that automation is not
possible with OpenOffice.org? You can do it with PyUNO!

魔法設計師在 OSDC.tw 研討會現場示範了動態組字的 Java 程式，
引起了不小的迴響。如果相同的技術能進入到作業系統中，任何漢字都
可以用字的部件組合而成，就不再會有缺字問題了！

魔法設計師、Yap 和 Sam 將來和大家談談，他們要讓動態組字的技術
走出示範的階段，進入作業系統中，成為人人可用的軟體的雄心壯志。
動態組字的核心技術，包括組合式漢字的輸入、儲存、排序、和描繪等等，
都有新問題要解決，將碰觸到不少相關的技術議題。

Hi!

MGdesigner demonstrated his Java program for composing partial
characters into arbitrary Chinese characters in the OSDC.tw
conference. It intrigued many people. If the technology can
be widely deployed in operating systems, it will become usable
by everyone, and the problem of missing characters is solved
once and for all!

Next Tuesday MdDesigner, Yap and Sam will talk about their
ambition of doing so. The core technologies, including human
input, data storage, sorting and rendering, have a lot of work
to do and many new issues to solve. If you are interested in
participation in the development of this exciting technology,
don't miss the talk!

After the packed OpenMoko talk, we're back to the ordinary
schedule for talks.

The most popular web rapid development system in the last
couple of years is certainly Ruby on Rails. But is RoR really
the best of the best? Aren't there other systems that can
compete, or even excel in some aspects? You bet! And there
are more than one such systems.

7:20pm 到達迴廊了... 嗯... 今天我比以往都要早到
什麼！那裡來的人啊！怎麼今天有別的團體包下迴廊辦活動嗎？
現場有近百人的陣仗~ TOSSUG 的聚會空前的人數~ :|

就在我還沒有找到位置坐好的時候...
PCMan 已經開始講他的 XD Programming - 極樂程式之道
以行雲流水般的速度不斷地講解著所準備的投影片
然後中途停下來現場用 Glade 開始拉 UI 介面...
慢慢地把 POP3 郵件檢查程式給實做出來
中途不斷地解釋 GTK+ 程式的寫法跟概念
gettext 的部份因為時間不夠所以就跳過 (真是 XD 啊)
最後簡單地講了一下 Gnet 的部份

然後... 要合照的請站在左邊... 要簽名的請站在右邊... XD
整個活動在台大體育館優雅的晚安歌曲中結束了... :P

plone 心得分享

今天（2005/8/30）的心得分享主題是 Marr 規劃許久的 plone，不少在 zope 社群的朋友都來了，如 pake、pwchi、joeysj，還有不少新朋友，一共聚了二十多人。哇！破記錄！

本來以為是 pake 一人秀，沒想到竟然是高手輪番上陣：

Pake 介紹自己做的 Fedora core 4 + plone LiveCD、並逐步講解從 tarball 安裝 zope 和 plone、以及基本的設定方式。

Marr 介紹 http://www.contentmanagementsoftware.info/ 的 zope/plone products 和對 open source 軟體有測試評比的 http://www.spikesource.com/ 網站

pwchi 講了如何在 zope 中建立和使用任何能用 python 的 DB-API 介面的關連式資料庫、以及快速的建立 query 物件和表單，整個過程是事先錄好的 flash 耶！

Terry 講了他為了一個在台中的案子準備的資料，在 http://blog.lifetaiwan.net/Members/terry/blog/taichung ，有參考價值。

友聖講了用 LinguaPlone（需要 PloneLanguageTool）product 來完成網頁內容 i18n 的作法，以及 kupu 和 epoz 兩個幾乎是 WYSIWYG 的網頁編輯 product。

用 tarball 裝的過程還真有點長... 還是弄成像 Scientific Linux 的 yum install plone 比較簡單啦！ ;)

希望 zope/plone products 也能有個像 yum repository 那樣的機制，提供相依性分析、套件搜尋、安裝、移除的簡單指令，若能全部都從 zope/plone 網頁直接操作就更棒了...

Tossug 心得分享 Linux VServer by Andrew

這是我第一次在 Tossug 聚會錄影來製作 Podcast
我的硬體設備為:
iBook 一台 + 羅技 Quickcam for Notebook Pro
利用 QuickTime Pro 來錄製影片檔
由於這台 iBook 同時外接投影機當簡報的機器
我還得負責撥放簡報,所以影片拍的很爛
加上一個小時的錄影,檔案有200Mb之大
所以,影片部份暫時我就不公布出來了
僅把音訊部份抽出來製作成 mp3 來 Podcast
然後再搭配本次心得分享的簡報檔
這樣,應該也可以讓沒來現場參與的人,可以一睹本次的 Linux VServer 心得分享
若可以的話,之後的 Tossug 心得分享,我應該都會去做現場錄影
底下就是本次心得分享的錄音檔
PS. 我已經盡量壓了,但畢竟有一個小時之久,所以,檔案還是有 31Mb 左右

wiki 左邊有 blog 的 atom feed 了

這個... 不用多說吧？去看 Tossug wiki 網頁就知道我在說什麼了吧！ :)

這是用 Mark Pilgrim 寫的 feedparser 去抓 blogger 的 atom feed 取前三筆資料而成的。程式很簡單：

因為去抓 atom feed 要一點時間，而這個是出現在 wiki menu 的東東，不論看哪一頁都會顯示，如果每次都去現抓就等太久了，所以我是用一個 cron job，每十分鐘抓一次存成快取(cache)，而 wiki menu 中只抓快取。

MoinMoin 的 i18n

剛剛把 wiki 首頁的 localization 作好了，對不懂正體中文的外國人比較友善了。作法很簡單：

先寫英文的 wiki page: TOSSUG.

把 TOSSUG 的中譯寫到 TraditionalChineseDict 這個 wiki page 中。(註：MoinMoin 原始的繁體中文是用 Chinese/Taiwan 代表，這一方面不太精確，因為香港還在用正體，一方面有斜線 / 使得 MoinMoin 認不得。）「土虱」是我對 TOSSUG 的中譯。 :-)

再把土虱這一頁寫好，就好囉！

MoinMoin 會依瀏覽器的語言偏好設定要決定要送哪個語言的首頁，目前英文和中文都 okay! :-)

至於非首頁的 wiki page 的 localization，還要再進一步了解，不過應該一時之間不太常用到吧！

修改了 wiki theme

今天稍微修了一下 Tossug wiki 的 theme：

把 blog | wiki | mailing list | irc | flickr 的選單列和 trailers 移進藍線區，順便把上方 banner 的區域縮小了 (theme + CSS 嘿嘿嘿)
把張伯先最新的土虱 logo 放了上去，現在 tossug 的 g 不會像 y 了。 :)
把右上角的 LoginName | UserPreferences 改成 My personal page | My preferences | Logout，不用進入 UserPreferences 頁就可以 logout 了！

Yahoo! 360 是什麼？
簡單的說,就是 Yahoo 所提供的整合 Blog 網路相簿社群交友等等功能為一身的新服務,後勢看漲
一堆人試用後,覺得還不錯用
我的看法,也是覺得不錯,簡單好用,雖然功能不是很多,因此給入門者,算是很好的選擇
另外,仿 Gmail 的型式,要有邀請函才能加入,物以稀為貴,這樣更可增加大家的好奇心想要得到 Yahoo! 360
目前,每個使用者應該都有 100 個 quota 可以邀請其他人加入,因此,tossug 社群的人,有需要的,可以找我要

Apache Document Project: 正體中文?

Apache 2.0 的線上文件有 de(德) | en(英) | es(西) | fr(法) | ja(日) | ko(韓) | ru(俄) 等文字的翻譯，沒有中文．．．

去　Apache 文件計劃中看的話，其實還有一些進行中的其他文字的翻譯計劃，如巴西、荷蘭、土耳其、和... 正體中文！荷蘭和土耳其的翻譯網站看來有些東西，巴西的網頁已經消失了，不過網站還在，看來像是個人網站，或許譯者的網站重灌了以後忘了把 apache 的翻譯部分放回來。

正體中文的網頁也消失了，可是、可是、可是... 網站怎麼會是那樣的啊！ <18歲以下不宜>

看來擔任翻譯工作的 SkyBlue 是忘了 renew domain name，結果 domain name 被色情業者搶去了。SkyBlue 留下的 e-mail address 也是在那個 domain，顯然也失效了。有人認識或能聯絡上 SkyBlue 的話，請他和 apache.org 更新一下資訊吧！不然實在很不好意思...

Apache 近年來的成長實在太快了，文件要跟上真的不容易，翻譯要跟上更是辛苦。但是 web 是如此重要的技術基礎，正確即時的文件是技術傳播的重要輔助工具。如果找不到 SkyBlue 的話，也許 Tossug 應該主動來作這件事！

大雨中的聚會

2005/3/29 的聚會，並沒有主題，外面又在下大雨，原本想：應該只會有土虱二三隻吧！

我錯了！

我們還是坐滿了一長桌，而且有好幾位新朋友：

趙惟倫 (William)： O'Reilly Fedora core 3 Linux 基礎入門　的譯者，目前是某科技公司的網管。他在德國唸了四年書，可以和 Arne 用德文交談耶！ <崇拜>
李宗育 ("縱慾")： Thhsieh 的學弟，看來勢必要接管那一百隻 Tux 了，祝他好運！ ;)
段逸時 (PowerOP)： http://blog.linux.org.tw/ 的管理人，聽他說是想交棒了。目前是某大外商科技公司的系統顧問。

另外台大大氣系四年級的 Mat 也來了，這是第三次，還算新朋友吧！上個禮拜他和志展幫我試出來 Apache 2 的 Virtual Host 在分離設定檔情形下的設定方法，Tossug wiki 能恢復上線，還要多謝他們兩位！改天把這部分寫成 wiki。

Mat 四月份要考台大和交大的資訊研究所了，大家祝他順利吧！

老骨頭來了 Arne、KC、thhsieh、John 和我。Jouston 來不了，是因為上禮拜的心得分享之後他去取被離譜菜鳥學徒惡修一陣的愛車時，被一輛闖紅燈的車給撞了，雖然損失不少，聽起來似乎身體還好，算是不幸中的大幸。

下個禮拜二是清明節，聚會取消一次。

QK 公館店聚會後記

2005/3/8 TOSSUG 在 QK 公館店聚會，喔！是婦女節耶！沒回家陪老婆過節，現在想起來，有點對不起老婆...

QK 沒正餐，不過好處是在大學口旁，晚餐選擇超多。和 thhsieh 去金雞園的路上、在大福利排骨對面看到一攤「土虱大王」，聚會結束後帶大家去看，哈哈哈！以後要找個時間一起去吃。

今天大家發現 irc 上竟然沒有 op。神奇的是，掛在頻道上的人竟然全都出現了，大家全部退出再進入，Andrew 拔得頭籌，成為新的首任 op，現在應該有五、六個 op 了吧？

從花蓮大漢技術學院遠道而來的呂老師 jlleu 今天第一次來參加 TOSSUG 聚會，說是想找 PHP 高手問網站整合的東西。ycheng 當仁不讓，看來呂老師頗有收穫， ycheng++！後來呂老師被 Andrew 和 chihchun 夾攻灌頂 Debian，呂老師有聽說過宜蘭龍潭國小的成績，只是今天才知道他們當初也是 Andrew 他們去用 Debian 灌頂過的。Andrew++！ :)

Andrew 最近在玩 vserver，說好等他玩得差不多後要來分享。

Logo 投票今天又收集了幾票，黑土虱持續衝票，白土虱苦苦追趕。http://wiki.tossug.org/LogoCandidates 上的票數，黑土虱以 7:4 領先。喔！才發現，原來 Adobe Illustrator 的 .ai 檔可以用 gimp 打開變成 raster image 來編輯，gimp 帥啊！回家後就練習了一下，把背景換成透明的（license？）現在 TOSSUG wiki 左上角的 logo 已經換成黑土虱了，如果白土虱後來居上，再來換一換。

下禮拜二我從夏威夷回國，也許會來不及參加聚會，就交給 jouston 打點了。jouston++ ！

下次心得分享也定了，由 jouston 講 Debian Weekly News 的翻譯，時間： 3/22。

等 wiki、blog、mailing list 等等都上軌道之後，TOSSUG 應該要來辦個活動，正式宣告成立，公開說明如何自助加入 TOSSUG。嗯，下兩週來準備。
